Toddie Byrne Cup comes to Turloughmore!
Turloughmore 1-9 Clarinbridge 1-2
Turloughmore won the Galway Feile U14 title in Athenry on Sunday in splendid style when they overcame Clarinbridge. After a hectic few days of hurling, Turloughmore ended the weekend as Feile winners in windy conditions in Kenny Park.
Turloughmore played with the strong wind in the opening half and led by 1-6 to 0-0 at half time. Eanna O’Loingsigh shot 2 good points either side of a superbly executed goal from Eoghan Conneely. By the break Matthew Tarpey has added 2 fine points with Eoghan Conneely adding 2 frees to give Turloughmore a decent 9 point lead at the break.
The quality of Turloughmore’s hurling was eye catching and while facing the breeze in the second period, they started as they ended the opening half. Eoghan Conneely shot a good point, before Cian Donoghue finally got Clarinbridge off the mark.
Eoghan Conneely added an effort from play and a free to leave the winners 1-9 to 0-1 ahead at the three quarters stage. Indeed, a late 39th minute goal from Joshua Ryan and a Sean Fox point served to leave Clarinbridge 1-9 to 1-2 behind and that proved to be the final score of a day when the young Turloughmore hurlers acquitted themselves well and were a credit to their management team and Club. Well done all!
