Turloughmore 4-11  Loughrea 3-7

Turloughmore captured the Co. U13 A Hurling title in Duggan Park on Thursday evening after a fine win over a strong Loughrea side. The seven point margin does not reflect the fact that this win was in doubt up to the final 7 minutes when two goals from the inform Tom Nolan saw Turlough pull away.

Loughrea lead by 2.3 to 1.1 at the half way point in the first half with the Turlough scores coming from Tom Nolan, a goal, and Eoghan Conneely who pointed a free. Loughrea's scores coming from the excellent Darren Shaughnessy, who accounted for 2.7 of Loughrea's final tally.

By half time the score was level Turlough 1.7 Loughrea 2.4, Turlough's other six points in that half coming from Tom Nolan 0.3 Eanna Monaghan 0.1 and Eoghan Conneely who pointed two frees.

The second half was well contested with Loughrea opening the scoring from a Darren Shaughnessy free. Two Turlough goals  from Tom Nolan, one after a fine solo run by Eanna O'Loingsigh, saw Turlough pull away but Loughrea fought back with a goal from Craig Griffin.

The closing minutes of the game saw the Turlough defence see off a strong Loughrea onslaught and points from Gearoid Fahy (2),  Eanna Monaghan and Man of the Match Eanna O'Loingsigh before a final gaol from the excellent Tom Nolan after a long delivery from full back Darragh Walsh put the seal on a deserved win.

This was an excellent team performance. Centre back and Captain Matthew Tarpey and full back Darragh Walsh marshalled a resolute defense where goalie Eamonn McGrath, Cian Hanley, Colin Fitzmaurice, and wing backs Cillian Trayers and Jack Mullen all did well. Midfielders Cillian Whelan and Eoghan Conneely excelled while in attack man of the match Eanna O'Loingsigh along with the excellent Tom Nolan who shot a fine tally of 4-3 led the way. Gearoid Fahy, Owen Kearney, Eanna Monaghan and Ryan Kearney were also to the fore in a fine performance, with Ronan Flaherty contributing as well.
